My internet life…

Since I started browsing net from my childhood (actually it started 10 years ago), I had a dream of downloading movies and songs from the “www”(. Due to the lack of knowledge, I was not even able to recognize the pathetic speed of my dialup connection, which I was supposed to use for downloading movies of file size 600MB!!!! (But I never tried to download a movie with that connection, since it was very expensive during that time. (A 90 hour satyam connection cost Rs. 2400 with one year validity during that time).

Actually I was unable to find any locations or download centers for the movies. Broadband came and price for internet connections reduced, but my lifestyle also changed. Broadband revolution came in Kerala, when I joined for my engineering graduate course in Rajagiri. In the hostel, I was unable to use a desktop. During second year of my course, I bought my Dell laptop. But from where will I get my net connection?.

My father was working in the world’s largest telecommunication company during my school days. He used to say about internet connection through mobile. The field workers in their company used to connect their laptops with their mobile for having internet (actually they were using gprs connection) but during that time I thought we can use our normal dialup connection through the mobile.) But when I got a mobile during college days, I came to know more about that.

My first mobile connection was from Escotel( presently idea), then came the bsnl ( I selected it since it has the largest coverage in Kerala.) Now I have an airtel connection.
Airtel is a new generation feature-rich service provider. They are the first service provider in Kerala to give GPRS facility to the users. And I selected the choice for my internet.

They provide an unlimited browsing facility during a month time for a cheap rate of Rs.250. I was happy. It was very little when compared to the money I spent in the internet cafes.:-)

I started using their connection even when it was in testing mode. And that made me extra happy. Due to some errors in their servers, I was not required to recharge my mobile with GPRS coupon or something. So it may continue for months. So I was able to use the internet for about seven months for Rs.250. Hows it?

I think they have the same problem in their server now also. These are some tricks which will help u to get the GPRS facility for FREE.

  • Don’t try to browse the wap sites using ur mobile.

  • Keep ur regular balance always high. If ur balance or validity goes down, the server will note it down and ur gprs connection will be reset.

  • Try not to contact the customer care, with regarding the complaints regarding ur gprs connection.

These are some tricks which will help u to cheat the Airtel gprs server. I cannot guarantee in these tricks. These are some of my personal findings, which I used for my connection.
