These are some of the online tools which helps me to keep track of my servers, peep into other servers as well as to troubleshoot if in case of any problems. This might be helpful for all those who are into webhosting.

1)builtwith.com: Helps in finding out the technologies used behind the website. Keeps you updated with the change in trends of the technologies used by leading popular websites.

2)http://domaintz.com/tools/reverse-ip/: Reverse IP tool to get an approximate idea on the number of websites hosted in a particular IP. Registering in the website will help you to get more clear idea on the domains hosted on the server.

3)whoishostingthis.com: To find the web hosting company which is hosting a particular website. It will help to find out whether your competitor is using a better server.

4)http://www.ipaddresslocation.org/ip-address-locator.php: To find the location of a particular server we can use this tool, it will give the approximate location of the server. You need the IP address of the server which can be obtained by simple PING to the domain name.

5)http://network-tools.com/: All-in-one tool for PING, DNS etc. This helps me to track the dns changes as well as traceroute from their server. One important feature is the ability to find the non-cached DNS of the domain name.

6)http://who.is/: Another All-in-one tool to find the DNS info, whois data as well as the some hidden info about the name servers etc.

ET Anticipate Word Press Plugin

Several times when I used to start a new website using WordPress, the content or the design may not be fully ready by that time. So I might end up using some Under Construction theme.

After lot of searching, I found this plugin for wordpress which is helpful for making the site under construction for the public, while it will be still available for the admin once we login. This helps me in designing the site from the server itself, without releasing it to public.

We can customize the plugin with the logo, countdown timing as well as the percentage of work completed. The fluidic design is excellent along with the jquery based slider. We can also include multiple pages to be shown in the bottom part. But I used to keep only one page just to write some extra text about Maintenance status. The email collection form as well as direct links to twitter, rss and Facebook will keep the visitor busy and they wont return empty handed. Definitely those links will provide necessary information about you.
